Author’s note: This update was posted to Kickstarter late last year. It’s been edited to bring it up-to-date with current events.
Hi, everyone!
I apologize for going so long between updates regarding Ultimate Long Live Mortal Kombat. Fortunately, I have good news. Not the good news you likely want, but good news that puts us on the path to that even better news.
A quick recap: If you don’t know what Ultimate Long Live MK is, it’s the special edition of 2022’s Long Live Mortal Kombat: Round 1, complete with photos, brand-new artwork, screenshots, and more. You can find more info here.
Now, buckle up—this update’s a big one.
New Graphic Designer
Amie and I have felt bad that the project has taken so long for various reasons, so we agreed to bring on another graphic designer to help out. He’s done a fantastic job, as you’ll see shortly. Our operations plan is as follows:
Our new graphic designer will finish the book’s first draft, wrangling all the work-in-progress chapters we have into their semi-final forms
From there, Amie will make final edits to the layout
Once those steps are finished, two things will happen.
First, we’ll be sending a digital edition to everyone who preordered Ultimate Long Live Mortal Kombat. That’ll give you time to read it if you can’t wait to dive in, or if you’d prefer to keep the forthcoming physical edition pristine on your shelf—no fingerprints, no dog-eared corners, and the like.
Second, we’ll prepare the book for printing and shipping. This part will take a few months, probably, since we’ll have to print, receive the books, autograph them, and ship them out to you.
I’ll update more often as these steps take place.
Book Preview
To give you an idea of how the book is shaping up, I thought I’d share over a dozen screenshots from various chapters. As a reminder, while the previews you’re seeing are from chapters that are, say, 95% complete, we still need to do edits, so they’ll look even better when they’re at 100%.
Enjoy the previews!
Wrapping Up
Thank you again for your patience and your confidence in this project. I believe I’ve said this before, but I grossly underestimated the amount of work a book of this magnitude would entail. If I could go back, I’d probably cancel Ultimate LLMK, but Amie and I are proud of how it’s turning out even though it’s taking significantly longer than anyone would like, including us.
Feel free to comment here if you have any questions!
Happy reading and gaming,
David
